Program Preview
ExplorART! Is an art program at offering several units of learning that will take us through different stages of art making and creating throughout the centuries helping students develop a deeper appreciation for art as well as strengthening their artistic skills.
The course will develop student’s understanding about their world and themselves through art as we take a closer look at art through the ages, exploring its purpose and function in different times and different cultures/civilizations.
The course outlines major functions of art through history touching on significant or representative works. Course will also include an introduction to some master artists: overview of their life, major periods and styles.
Exposure to art in these courses will make students museum visits more enjoyable as these will be enhanced by a growing ability to recognize the work of modern artists they have studied and begin to appreciate different styles and understand art works from other times and cultures/civilizations.
By creating works of art that relate to the particular periods and styles students’ learning is reinforced and artistic skills are sharpened for personal expression. Students’ understanding is developed through hands-on concrete art-making experiences! Unit one in this program will be offered this fall.
